Design Technology

Think about your daily life, how many different gadgets do you use to make life more convenient? All around us there are so many objects that have been designed, created and evaluated by engineers.

At Ormesby Primary school, we aspire that our Design Technology curriculum provides children with vital skills that they can develop over time and these skills will support them throughout their life. Through the teaching of Design and Technology we aspire that our children will develop a greater awareness and understanding of how everyday products are designed, made and how they work. We understand the importance of providing opportunities where children can use their imagination and creativity to solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. These tasks allow the children to take risks in their creativity and work alongside others to evaluate and develop concepts. Wherever possible we provide opportunities for the children to draw on knowledge from other subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art.

We thrive to develop the next generation of engineers, chefs and designers through the teaching of Design Technology, and we look forward to seeing their creative minds develop throughout their study of this subject.
