Maths

At Ormesby Primary School, we want our children to foster a deep and lasting love for mathematics. We envision a future where every child not only excels in mathematics, but also understands its relevance in their daily lives and beyond the classroom.

Therefore, we have carefully designed a curriculum to ensure that children have multiple opportunities to master the key mathematical skills and concepts. Our curriculum also aims to develop pupil’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills whilst also igniting a sense of wonder and curiosity about mathematics by encouraging them to ask questions and explore mathematical concepts.

Finally, we aim to instil a growth mind set into our pupils, teaching them that mistakes are opportunities for learning and that effort and persistence are key to mathematical success. By providing all of the above, we know that our pupils will grow into confident, independent adults that can take responsibility, use their initiative and work towards the goals needed for success.
