Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning
We know that children learn in different ways and we use the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning to enable staff to effectively plan experiences and move learning forwards for individuals.
- Playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things for themselves
- ‘Have a Go’/ Active learning – children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements
- Creating and Thinking Critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas and develop strategies for doing things.
- Adults support children on their learning journey through sharing experiences, modelling and directly teaching skills, and sharing knowledge to extend children’s learning and deepen their understanding of concepts.
