Ormesby Primary School

Aims and Values

Learning Together For Life

The school has adopted the motto ‘Learning Together For Life’.
This embodies our belief that in Ormesby Primary School we aim to develop a happy, caring and considerate community in which each individual member is striving to achieve his or her full potential.

The school aims to promote excellence in teaching and learning in essential areas of experience. These will not only enrich the children’s lives but will encourage personal growth and development so that they become independent, socially competent adolescents and adults who are able to play a full life in society.

Making A Difference

An old man was walking along the beach at dawn when he noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and throwing them back into the sea. Catching up with the youth, the old man asked the young man what he was doing.

“These starfish will die if they are still on the beach when the sun comes up and burns them with its intense heat,” came the reply.

“But the beach goes on for miles and miles. There are millions of starfish here,” countered the old man. “How can your effort make any difference?”

The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it safely into the sea. “It makes a difference to this one,” he said.

The young man’s actions represent something special in all of us. We have all been gifted with the ability to make a difference. At Ormesby Primary School we try to make a difference to each other every day through our actions.
